This building, which contains the most authentic historic print shop in the world, was kept intact as a home and a business by the Plantin-Moretus dynasty for some 300 years. The 16th- and 17th-century type foundry, printing plant, offices, correctors room and bookshop are housed in the family mansion; 34 rooms are open to the public and give not only a comprehensive view of printing history but also an impression of life during this time.
